Over the past couple of years, more Zuni artisans have gone to fetish carvings instead of jewelry. Some of this is due to increased cost of silver and other raw materials. We have seen some very different stones and animals over the years. As you see in the picture, two of our new additions are interested in the same fish! Don’t know if the otter will out swim the bear! Yesterday, we replenished our fetish selection, so now is the time to improve your collection! If you are looking for anything specific, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have just received more glass and iron shamans made right here in southern Arizona! They are the perfect addition for the inside, or outside, of your home. Arlene’s has always been known for the “unexpected in Tombstone”. This definitely applies to the wide range of home décor items that we sell. For example, this small coffee table and matching set of candlesticks are just one of the many unique accent items that we have to make your house a home.
Navajo sandpaintings have been used for religious and healing ceremonies for hundreds of years. The traditional designs have specific meanings and symbols that represent various things in our world: like water, corn, and animals. In recent years, there have been artisans who have taken sandpainting to a more contemporary art form. Navajo artisan Bilson Kee is one who has done that. This is an original painting of his, but he has also done numerous modern sandpaintings over the years. His work has become difficult to find, but when we do find it, they go fast!
Lui Escoto is a very unique artisan. For over a decade, he has made these hand crafted wire sculptures. The subject matter of these has been mostly Native American and Western. This hoop dancer has always been a favorite. If you covet a conversation piece for your home, this is a must have.
Arlene’s is one of the few independent stores in Arizona to carry the Nambé line of home products.
