Norman Lansing is a self-taught Native American artist and member of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. Based in southwestern Colorado, he specializes in intricately etched pottery that combines traditional Indigenous imagery with contemporary artistic expression.

Working from his Wings & Thunder Studio in the Rocky Mountains, Lansing uses ceramics as a canvas for exploring the natural world and spiritual traditions. His work features detailed representations of wildlife, mountains, clouds, and symbolic designs.

Lansing is particularly recognized for his mastery of sgraffito, a technique in which layered surface colors are carefully carved away to reveal contrasting designs beneath. He also develops his own glazes to achieve the colors and effects appropriate to each piece.
