This is a sandpainting by Michael Watchman, a member of the accomplished Watchman family of the Navajo sand painters from Shiprock, New Mexico in the Four Corners area on the Navajo Reservation. Sand paintings are a part of the Navajo religion & are used as a way to create balance and harmony. There is a Certificate of Authenticity on the back, showing a picture of the artist as well as some information on the Navajo religion.
